Pongalo Pongal celebrations at Kozhikode

The District Committee of Kerala Brahmana Sabha Kozhikode celebrated Pongal on Sunday, 2012 January 15th at Sree Kanchi Sankaracharya Clinic Hall.  The function which marks the start of a new harvest year was celebrated for the first time in Kozhikode. District President Sri. T V Krishna Iyer gave the Pongal Message and wished everyone on the occassion. In his speech, he mentioned that as Tamil Brahmins, we must urge the need to learn the language better. Rangoli competition and Tamil recitations marked this years celebrations. Several ladies and children participated in the programs. It was a feeling of joy and togetherness at the venue where members of the District Committee , Vanitha Vibhagam and Yuvajana Vibhaganm were present not just as participants but also as the organisers. Everyone irrespective of age participated in both Rangoli and Tamil recitation. Sri. Kiran C G (Yuvajana Vibhagam State President) greeted and wished everyone on the occassion. Dr. Ramanathan (Past District President and Senior Member) gave his felicitation address. Dr. Thyagarajan A (State Executive Member) gave his felicitation address in 'Sanksrit'. While  Dr. Seetharaman T S (District Treasurer) handed over the prizes to the winners and also to all participants, Sri. Gopalakrishnan C S (State Executive Member) handed over the compliments to the organisers from Yuvajana Vibhagam. Smt. Padma Venkideshwaran (State Joint Secretary, Vanitha Vibhagam),  Smt. Usha Gopalakrishnan (Vanitha Vibhagam State Executive Member), Sri. RamkumarK B (Yuvajana Vibhagam State Secretary) were also present on the occassion. While Program Convenor Sri. Rajesh P K welcomed the gathering, Sri. Arun Kumar AS ( District Yuvajana Vibhagam District President) delivered the vote of thanks. Pongal was distributed to all after the function.
