Under the auspicious of Kerala Brahmana Sabha, Kozhikode district, ‘VIPRA VISMAYAM 2010’ – an event to identify the hidden talents in sports of our community members was conducted in a grand manner at Kozhikode on the 27th and 28th of November. The event was inaugurated by Sri T V Krishna Iyer (President – Tamil Sangham, Kozhikode) on Saturday by lighting the VILAKKU. Participants from all upasabhas representing all age groups participated in the competition. The highlight of this event was ‘PALLAMKUZHI’ which saw a tight neck to neck competition with 22 ladies (above 18 category) participating in the event. Chess, Carroms, Shuttle Badminton and Cricket were conducted for boys and girls in below 18 as well as above 18 categories. Over 100 participants in total participated in this district event. While it was children who were competing in the events like Cricket and Shuttle, Ladies and Gents also actively proved their talent in Carroms, Chess as well as Pallamkuzhi.
Dr. A Ramanathan (Past District President) gave away the prizes for all winners in the valedictory function presided by District President Sri. T S Venkitadri on Sunday evening. Individual winners were given Mementos and certificates where in all participants who participated in the event were given certificates and medals. District President Sri. T S Venkitadri, Youth Wing President Sri. V Krishnakumar, Youth Wing Secretary Sri. G Krishnan, State Committee member Sri. C S Gopalakrishnan and Ladies District Committee member Smt Geetha Venkitadri took the lead in organizing this event at Kozhikode. The winners will represent Kozhikode district at the state level finals to be held later this year.
