YUVANISHA 2013 - a Cultural Extravaganza

Padmasri Kalyana Mandapam hall, Tali, Kozhikode witnessed a great extravagant and a colorful show set up by 'ORANGEPADA' in the evening of Sunday, 13th January 2013 with YUVANISHA 2013. Otherwise known as the Youth Day Celebrations of Yuvajana Vibhagam Kozhikode Kerala Brahmana Sabha, this vibrant evening was one indeed to keep in memory and one written in golden words in the history of Kerala Brahmana Sabha Kozhikode. Into the 3rd year of service, Yuvajana Vibhagam celebrated the event to realized the importance of International Youth Day

which falls on January 12th and also became part of the 150th Vivekananda Jayanthi celebrations across the globe. Idea star singer, Amrita Superstar Global and Sangeeta Mahayudham fame Kum. Latha Krishna who was the Chief Guest inaugurated this years celebrations. Kerala Brahmana Sabha General Secretary Sri. P Ananthasubramaniam was the Guest of Honor for the occasion. The prestigious honor instigated by the wing - YUVA ICON OF YEAR 2012 award was also presented on the occasion. District Yuvajana Vibhagam President Sri. Ram Kumar K B declared the winner and Kum. Meenakshi Venugopal - the recipient of the award for this year collected the same from the Chief Guest Kum. Latha Krishna. This award instigated is categorized 
Kum. Sandeepa n Kum. Deepika
and awarded based on the candidates participation in Sabha activities, academic brilliance and achievement sin the extra curricular activities. Apart from this Mast. Kartik Srinivas and Kum. Priyakaveri V V collected their cash prizes and  certificates for Saamskarika Kalamela from the Guest of Honor. The Inaugural ceremony was held post which the youth members from the district showcased their talent in the Kalasandhya organised.

Kum. Latha Krishna - a versatile singer and a born performer on stage inaugarated the celebrations by lighting the traditional lamp. In her Inaugural address, she thanked the wing for the wonderful hospitality rendered to her family. She also mentioned a note in the participation of the members in the Interactions session which was held prior to the celebrations. Kum. Latha added that she has been in regular touch with the activities of Kozhikode and that she was indeed highly honored and privileged to be at such a venue. She wished all the

members good luck on the occasion. Sri. P Ananthasubramaniam (KBS General Secretary) appreciated the dedication and the teamwork of Kozhikode Yuvajana Vibhagam and added that this was the best youth wing across Kerala which Kerala Brahmana Sabha has and that ever had. He also added that the team from Kozhikode of Sri. Kiran, Sri. Ram Kumar and Sri. Arun Kumar which took the state leadership of Kerala Brahmana Sabha Yuvajana Vibhagam stabilized the entire wing. While appreciating their support rendered to the district wing, he spoke about the family involvement of all members in the success of any program conducted under the banner of Kerala Brahmana Sabha. District President Sri. T V Krishna Iyer felicitated the wing and their success stories into the third year of service. He added a quote from Thirukkural ‘The strength and Unity of Youth can transform and change the entire world’ and added the fact that he was proud and privileged to head the Sabha from Kozhikode with such a youth wing under them. While Program Convener Sri. Kiran C G welcomed the gathering, Joint Convener Smt. Lakshmipriya delivered the vote of thanks.

Upholding the rich Brahmin tradition and culture, the Kuttipada in Orangepada kick-started the Kalasandhya with their Bhajans. The team led by Mast. Sankaranarayanan comprises of Mast. Kartik, Mast. Vishnu, Kum. Vaishnavi, Kum. Keerthi, Kum. Manthra, Kum. Pavithra, Kum. Lakshmi, Kum. Seethalakshmi, Kum. Yuvasree, Kum. Priyakaveri and Kum. Rajalakshmi. This team was trained by Smt. Seethalakshmi C S and Smt. Lakshmi C S – the Bhajan sisters of Kozhikode. Kum. Ananya and Kum. Aishwarya staged their Kerala style dance in the song ‘Keranirakaladum’. While Kum. Swathi, Kum. Sreelakshmi and Mast. Vivek staged their classical dance number in the song ‘Sivadam Sivanamam’, Kum. Sandeepa and Kum. Deepika showcased their dancing skills in the dance melody ‘Ganshayamam’. Kum. Kavitha, Kum. Aswini, Kum. Karthika, Kum. Rohini, Kum. Yuvasree and Kum. Priyakaveri presented the Kolatto which won them the 3rd place in Kalanjali 2012 - cultural fest of Kerala Brahmana Sabha. The team of Sri. Ramesh, Sri. Arun Kumar A S, Mast. Goutham Krishna, Mast. Ganesh and Sri. Ram Kumar – UNEVENZ as they are called on staged a rocking and fast dance number in their medley dance. Kum. Ranjani Parameswaran (finalist – Little Masters) thrilled and rocked the stage with her fast hindi number. Chief Guest Kum. Latha Krishna also thrilled the stage with her solo performances in ‘Maargazhi Thinkalallava’ and ‘Vaan Megam’. She teamed up with Sri. Ram Kumar for a romantic duet song in ‘Kangal Irandal’ and with Kum. Ranjani in ‘Sheila Ki Jawani’. Sri. Ramesh, Sri. Ramkumar and Sri. Kiran teamed up in a Final Medley Mix – a Song for Friendship. Kum. Sneha (Executive member), Kum. Kavitha G (District Joint Secretary) and Kum. Kavitha G Krishnan (District Treasurer) anchored the entire show with their multiple language skills. Over and above, YUVANISHA 2013 inscribed golden memories into the whole brahmin sect of Kozhikode and turned out to be another page written in gold in the success book of Yuvajana Vibhagam Kerala Brahmana Sabha Kozhikode. An ultimate event for ORANGEPADA and its time to wait and watch for more.

Aandalal Kalyanam Celebrated at Kozhikode



Aandaal Kalyana Mahotsavam was celebrated at Kozhikode on 11th January 2013 (Friday). This festive occasion organised by Chalappuram Upasabha of Kerala Brahmana Sabha Kozhikode saw a lot of devotees with a majority of ladies participate with their pledged prayers. Sri. PAdmanabha Iyengar (Trivandrum) a leading bhajan artist led the celebrations accompanied by the ladies from Calicut who recited Thirupavai. It is a custom to chant "Thirupavai" in Vishnu temples by ladies during the month of "markazhi" or Dhanu. The day on which the 27th "slokam" is recited is observed as the Aandalkalyanam, since the latter was married by Lord Ranganatha ,due to the devotion of Kudaraivally Aandal, on that day(27th Dhanu) - This day being 11th January 2013. This festive occasion organised by Chalappuram Upasabha of Kerala Brahmana Sabha Kozhikode saw a lot of devotees with a majority of ladies participate with their pledged prayers. The function was staged at Padmasri Kalyana Mandapam hall. Specially designed idols of Lord Ranganatha  and Aandaal were brought in a procession accompanied them by singing bhajans all the way to the Mandapam, and then placed in a specially decorated Unjaal. Following Mangalasthanam, Aabharana, Vasthradharanam and Choornika, Lord Ranganatha garlanded Aandaal. After Mangalyadhaaranam every devotee irrespective of age in the Mandapam participated in the Kalyanatharangam - a special dance showing happiness after the marriage of the Lord. Horoscopes of Youth boys and girls were placed for pooja. It is believed that with their participation, their marriages would happen sooner. Sri. T V Krishna Iyer felicitated the bhaagavathars on the occasion. Dr. Seetharaman T S (President - Chalappuram Upasabha), Sri. V K Mohan Dr. Seetharaman T S (Secretary - Chalappuram Upasabha), Sri. Chandrasekharan (Teasurer - Chalappuram Upasabha), Sri. C S Gopalakrishnan, Smt. Brinda Hariharan (both Executive committee members) and Sri. T V Krishna Iyer were among the organizers. This Kalyana Mahotsavam was the first of its kind held at Kozhikode.
