Yuvajana Vibhagam, Kozhikode Kerala Brahmana Sabha celebrated Youth Day on Vivekananda Jayanthi day (Thursday, 12th January 2012) at Sree Kanchi Sankaracharya Clinic Hall, Tali. Sri. Vidyasagar (Chairman, International Commune for Inner Revolution) inuagarated this years celebrations. He also handled a session on 'Contribution of Youth towards the society'. In his inaugaral speech, Sri. Vidyasagar mentioned about Swami Vivekananda, his contributions and why his birthday is celebrated as International Youth Day. He also added that following Swami Vivekananda's thoughts are a ready made solution for the problems faced by the present youth. He also urged the need and importance of reading Swami Vivekananda's book 'From Colombo to Almora' which is a confidence builder to youngsters.
On the occassion, the YUVA ICON OF THE YEAR 2011 award was awarded to Kum. Priyakaveri V V (d/o Smt. Geetha Venketadri and Sri. V K Venketadri). This award is given by Yuvajana Vibhagam Kozhikode for excellence in the Academic, Social, Cultural and Religious portfolios. Sri. T V Krishna Iyer (District Preisdent, Kerala Brahmana Sabha) handed over the certificate and memento to Kum. Priyakaveri. He also gave his felicitations and congratulated the wing in conducting this program. The program was presided by Sri. Arun Kumar A S (Yuvajana Vibhagam President, Kozhikode). While Program Convenor Sri. Gopalakrishnan N V welcomed the gathering, Sri. Sooraj S (Yuvajana Vibhagam Secretary) delivered the vote of thanks.
