YUVANISHA 2013 - Youth Day Celebrations

Yuvajana Vibhagam of Kerala Brahmana Sabha Kozhikode District would like to invite all of you to YUVANISHA 2013’ - Youth Day Celebrations. As the wing continues its successful journey into the 3rd year of service, this year’s celebrations will mark an occasion for the youth members to showcase their talents in the field of music and arts at the Musical evening organised. The prestigious award instigated by the wing ‘YUVA ICON OF THE YEAR – 2012’ will also be given on the occasion. Kum. Latha Krishna – Idea Star singer and Amul Sangeetha Mahayudham Fame will Inaugarate this year’s celebrations. Sri. P Ananthasubramaniam (General Secretary, Kerala Brahmana Sabha) will be the Guest of Honor and will grace the occasion with his presence. This musical evening will showcase brahmin youth members exhibit their hidden talents in the stage show performances. Tambola, Lucky Dip and a Light Dinner is also arranged. 

Kum. Latha Krishna is that charming and vivacious singer who captured the millions of hearts across the globe with her beautiful voice, soulful singing and high energy performances in Idea Star Singer, Amul Sangeetha Mahayudham and Amrita TV Superstar Global. She entered the Malayalam play back singing world through her song  in the award winning movie Sufi Paranja Kadha (2010). The voice in the song ‘Pinne Ennodonnum Parayathe’ in mohanlal movie Shikkar is acclaimed to Latha and is a golden feather on her cap. Her songs in recent tamil movies opened the door for her to the Kollywood industry also. Born to H Ramaswamy (Architect) and Smt. Saraswathi (A Grade artiste in AIR and Carnatic vocalist), Kum. Latha has also anchored TV Shows like Cocktail Sunday (Jaihind TV), Kaliyum Chiriyum (Surya TV) to name a few. On stage, she transforms into a graceful and a stunning performer, and her charming performances has taken her on numerous stage shows and concerts across Kerala and also abroad. She is also performing Carnatic Music Concerts and is the disciple of Sri. R Mahadevan and Sri. Adoor Sudarshan.

AASTHAANA VIDWAAN Title conferred to Sri. Narayana Prakash

'AASTHAANA VIDWAAN' title conferred to Sri. Narayana Prakash, a leading Mridangam Vidwaan from Kozhikode. This prestigious award is conferred by His Highness Sri. KANCHI KAMAKODI PEETHAM every year towards Classical Music Vocalists and Instrumentalists (Veena, Violin Saxaphone, Harmonium, Flute, Nadaswaram and other instruments in which Classical music is played including Mridangam, Khanjeera, Ghatam, Moorsing and  Thavil artistes), mainly from Tamil Nadu and Kerala. It is also conferred to artistes from Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, but comparatively less in number. Almost 10 keralites were selected for the Title and Sri. Narayana Prakash was to be the blessed one this year. It is indeed a great thing that we are honoured by our KAANCHI PERIYAVAAL and Kozhikode Kerala Brahmana Sabha shares the success with him. Sri. Narayana Prakash born to Late Smt. Seethalakshmi and Late Sri Ramaswamy V N had his initial training in music under Sri. M N Subramanian and continued his studies under Sri. Cherthala N Sreekumara Varma and Sri. Kumaranalloor V Rajamani. He is continuing his studies under Prof. Parassala Ravi, Senior Vidwaan from Kerala. He has accompanied various well known artists at various stages across Kerala and South India with his Mridangam and is popularly known for his SAMPRADAAYA SUDDHAM (Traditional Purity), Faithfullness in accompaniment, keeping the KAALAPRAMAANAM (Tempo) and in maintaining the SAUKHYAM throughout the concert. Officially he is employed with LIC at the Divisional Office in Kozhikode. He is married to Smt. Subbalakshmi who is a homemaker and they are blessed with One Child Mast. Vivek V N currently pursuing his 9th standard. They reside at Sreeram Sadan near Beypore in Kozhikode district. Kerala Brahmana Sabha once again congralutes him on receiving this prestigious glory.

Chalappuram Upasabha reformed

Chalapuram Upasbaha reformed at the Annual General Body Meeting in December 2012. The wing which has been the most supportive one in the events of Kerala Brahmana Sabha elected their new panel at the General Body meeting held at Padmasri Kalyana Mandapam hall on Sunday, 2nd of December 2012. The meeting unanimously elected Dr. T S Sitaraman as the President. Sri. Mohan V K was elected as Secretary and Sri. Chandrasekhar was elected as Treasurer of the wing. While Smt.Seethalakshmy C S was elected as Vice President, Smt. Rema Venkitaraman was elected as Joint Secretary of the Upasabha. The report and the accounts were presented and approved. Dr. A Ramanathan, Sri. C S Gopalakrishnan, Sri. T V Krishna Iyer, Smt. Brinda Hariharan, Smt. Usha Gopalakrishnan, Smt. Krishna Chandran, Smt. Jayalakshmy N D and Sri. V R Venkitachalam were selected as Committee Members. Senior member Dr. A Ramanathan, District President Sri. T V Krishna Iyer, State Committee Members Sri. C S Gopalakrishnan and Smt. Brinda Hariharan and Smt. Geetha Venkitadri spoke on the occassion. Dr. T S Sitaraman in his acceptance speech mentioned the good work rendered by the Upasabha in the activities of the district and mentioned the need to continue the same. All participants urged the fact that Chalappuram upasabha needs to be strengthened and more activities need to be conducted. The first executive meeting was also held on the occassion. While Sri. T V Krishna Iyer welcomed the gathering, newly elected Secretary Sri V K Mohan delivered the vote of thanks.

2nd Anniversary of Yuvajana Vibhagam marked with a One Day Trip

District Yuvajana Vibhagam of Kozhikode Kerala Brahmana Sabha organized a One Day trip in November 2012. The trip marked to celebrate the 2nd Anniversary of the wing (on 7th November) was the first of its kind in the 2 year history. A team of 30 members (comprising of Children, Youth, Ladies and Seniors) started the journey from Tali at 7am on Sunday, November 11th in a pre-arranged mini bus. The members of the trip introduced themselves at the start. The team visited Pisharikavu temple near Koyilandy and offered their prayers there after which joined in with a tasty and holy prasadam 'Kanji' (Rice Porridge) and 'Payar' (Beans curry). Then the bus headed towards 'Sargaalaya' - crafts village near Irangal, Vadakara. Sri. Bhaskar (Head - Sargaalaya) briefed on the history and the theme behind the crafts village. The team visited about 250 craft stalls and learned about the handicrafts history and tradition of Kerala. Lunch was served at the venue and the members of the trip refreshed themselves with a late afternoon Boat ride in the waters of Moorad river. The team led their way to Thikkodi lighthouse and spend some time at the heights of the lighthouse and joined in for a photo session thereafter. The final destination Kappad beach was covered in the early evening after tea and snacks. The team organized themselves in a few group activities and games further which they spend the evening with the Sunset view at the beach. On the return way after covering all destinations, the members spoke their memories of the trip. While Program Convenor Sri. Kiran C G welcomed the members and briefed the proceedings, Sri. Ramkumar K B (District President Yuvajana Vibhagam) thanked the members for joining the trip. This trip as mentioned was the first of its king organised by the wing and turned out to the most memorable one in the course of events.
