Admidst the Colours and festive
occassion, Kalanjali 2012 - District level finals were held at Kozhikode on the
dates of July 1st, 7th and 8th with great glory and divine grace. The program
saw a neck to participation from all age groups in various items compete to
showcase the hidden talent and skill with a total participation count crossing
the magic number 100. To motivate, encourage and promote the hidden talents
amongst the members of the brahmin community and to groom the youth and the
children into the field of arts and cultural events was the motive behind this
and it really was established with the conduct of the programs. The cultural
and arts mela was inaugarated by Smt. Sudha Ranjith, a well known Carnatic
Musician and also a playback singer by lighting the tradition lap
'Kuthuvilakku'. Kalanjali 2009 Kalathilakam Kum. Parvathy Narayanan, Sri. T S
Seetharaman (Chairman - Celebration Committee), Sri. T V Krishnan (District
President), Sri. Harikumar P K District Secretary), Sri. C S Gopalakrishnan, Smt.
Brinda Hariharan, Smt. Usha Gopalakrishnan (all KBS State Committee members)
were also present on the inaugural ceremony as well as during the entire course
of the program. The 3 day event saw about 100 families from the Tamil
Brahmin fraternity of Kozhikode and was a real success both on papers and in
practice.The off stage events like Essay
Writing, Story writing, Painting, Poetry writing and Quiz were held at PSVM
College hall while the on stage events were scheduled at Sri Kanchi Sankaracharya
Clinic hall on the above dates. The highlight of this years competition was a
78 year old lady participating in the Valayavanthapaatu - a traditional item of
Tamil Brahmins which is now no where to be seen or heard of and a special
emphasize was also given to the Pachakam (Cooking) competition where the famous
Tamil brahmin food entity "THATTAI" was to be prepared. Other
items on stage includes Pathinettu Muzham Pudava Udukkal, Panchagacchadharanam, Classical Music, Kolattam, Narayaneeyam, Recitation, Elocution,
Kolamidal, Bhajana, Mridangam, Violin and lots more. The entire credit and
success of the event goes to all participants and their parents without whom
the program would not have been a success. Eminent judges judged the
participation and also gave their valuable feedback on the performances
rendered by the participants.The competitions were conducted in the Sub Junior, Junior and Senior category. The selected winners will represent
Kozhikode at the State Level finals scheduled on 2012 August 4th and 5th at
Mattanchery (Ernakulam) and is expected to foster a strong participation for
the same. Sri. Rajesh P K (State Yuvajana Vibhagam committee member), Sri.
Gautham A, Sri. Gokul, Sri. Ramkumar K B, Kum. Kavitha G (District Yuvajana
Vibhagam Joint Secretary), Kum. Kavitha G Krishnan ((District Yuvajana Vibhagam
Treasurer) and Sri. Kiran C G (all members of Yuvajana Vibhagam) lead the
celebrations. The program was well managed, scheduled and co-ordinated with the
brilliant team work of Kozhikode Kerala Brahmana Sabha Yuvajana Vibhagam. Seniors
from the organization gave away the certificates and prizes for the winners as well as the
participants at the Valedictory function. While Sri. Arun Kumar A S (General
Convenor) welcomed the gathering, Sooraj S (Joint Convenor) proposed the vote
of thanks. It was just a result of a 60 day hardwork from all in Kozhikode that
adds to the glory of Kozhikode Kerala Brahmana Sabha and also to 'ORANGEPADA' - the Yuvajana Vibhagam of Kozhikode.
