To upkeep and encourage the glory of Brahmin tradition and also to impart the Brahmin culture to the younger generation of our community, Saamskarika Kalamela 2012 - District Level Cultural competitions was held on Saturday, 15th September 2012 at Padmasri Kalyana Mandapam, Tali, Kozhikode. The event held with various competitions for children between the age group 7yrs to 15yrs was conducted in a grand way. Apart from the disturbances of Hartal and continuous Rain, over 75 members with the mix of ladies, gents, youth members and children participated in the function to encourage the 22 participants for the program. Kolamidal, Manthrochaaranam, Slokam Chollal and Bhajan were the events where the children 
showcased their dedication and above all their talent. District President Sri. T V Krishna Iyer inaugurated this years competitions by lighting the traditional lamp 'Kuthuvilakku'. In his inaugural speech, he mentioned the need of the program and expressed his thanks to the District Yuvajana Vibhagam (Orangepada) for the conductance of this program. He also supported and appreciated the parents for their dedication in bringing up the children to participate this program. 
District Secretary Sri. Harikumar P K spoke on the occassion. He shared the success of Kozhikode district coming 3rd in the recently held arts festival Kalanjali 2012 and also wished all participants and urged the need for the district to win maximum prizes at the state finals. District Yuvajana Vibhagam Sri. Arun Kumar A S briefed on the conduct of the event and assured that wing will come up with more programs in the future and encouraged everyone to participate in the same. an eminent Judging panel monitored the events and also gave improvemental feedbacks to the participants on their performance in the competitions. Certificates, Trophies and gifts were given to the winners as well as the participants. Kalanjali 2012 participants from the district were 
also felicitated on the occassion; Kum. Ranjani Parameswaran (Kalathilakam - Junior) and Sri. Kiran C G (Kalaprathibha - Senior) shared their experience and memories in winning the respective honours. Kum. Kavitha G (District Yuvajana Vibhagam Joint Secretary), Sri. Ganesh Raj, Mast. Vishnu M S (both Yuvajana Vibhagam executive committee members), Sri. C S Gopalakrishnan, Smt. Brinda Hariharan and Smt. Usha Gopalakrishnan (all State committee members) and other district leaders were also present on the occassion. While Sri. Kiran C G (Joint Convenor) welcomed the gathering, Sri. Ramkumar K B (General Convenor) delivered the vote of thanks. The 1st place and 2nd place winners from the individual events and the 1st place winners from the group event will represent Kozhikode district at the State level Finals to be held on 2012 October 6th at Alappuzha in connection with the State annual General Body meeting.
